Huitt-Zollars Welcomes Clay Barnett, PE, CFM, as Vice President in New Sherman Office

We are pleased to announce Clay Barnett, PE, CFM, has joined Huitt-Zollars as a Vice President in our new Sherman, Texas office. In this role, Clay will focus on business development and project management in support of infrastructure projects for local governments in North Texas. He will also serve as a Principal of the firm.  

Clay brings a diverse background of over 20 years of project and technical experience on environmental code, street maintenance, traffic operations, park construction, fleet maintenance, solid waste and recycling collection, and drainage and airport projects. His broad range of experience has focused on overseeing, managing, administering, and directing the engineering and business development operations of multiple divisions within public works departments. In his previous roles as Director of Public Works for the City of Sherman as well as Director of Development Services, Director of the Grayson County Metropolitan Planning Organization, and County Engineer for Grayson County, he possesses an elite experience of professional, administration, and technical work.

Clay earned his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Texas A&M University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Dallas. He is a licensed professional engineer in the state of Texas as well as a certified floodplain manager. Clay is very active in the local community and with a number of professional associations. He currently serves as the State Treasurer for the Texas Society of Professional Engineers and previously served as the State Director for Northeast Texas Chapter, President for Northeast Texas Chapter, and he is a graduate of the Professional Engineer Leadership Institute. Clay recently served as a Representative, Non-TMA, Place 2, for the Texas Association of MPOs. Additionally, Clay has received prestigious accolades which include Distinguished Engineer of the Foundation awarded by the Texas Engineering Foundation (2021) and the Excellence Award from the Texas Society of Professional Engineers (2014).
