Texas State’s new Performing Arts Center houses multiple department and community productions. A 300-seat Music Recital Hall, a 400-seat Proscenium Theatre with an 80’ high fly tower, and an operable orchestra pit contribute to the 43,700-SF venue. Supporting ongoing sustainability goals, the design for LEED Silver-NC certification also aligns with campus master plan guidelines. The design team’s dedication to BIM provided essential insight into the complicated facility and delicate performance spaces. Mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural requirements are simpatico with audio/visual equipment, theatrical components, life-safety, and variable acoustical factors.
