Port Maravilha/Port of Rio Master Plan

This project is about Urban Connectivity, creating and connecting urban green spaces, and reconnecting this historic city to its waterfront. The majority of the area’s infrastructure and built structures are obsolete and rapidly deteriorating. This entire district is in the process of redevelopment to host future Olympic venues. Primarily, the solution increases the commercial value of this optimally located property, in central Rio de Janeiro, through a variety of enhancements. Increasing walkability, to and from the waterfront, endorses connectivity across the city. A light rail and trolley system facilitate larger movements while bolstering opportunities for transit-oriented urban living. All aspects ultimately create attractive characteristics for sustainable growth within a downtown community.
