The Settlement

Huitt-Zollars provided the civil engineering for the design for The Settlement, a 396-unit, multi-family community on around 20 acres in Kyle, Texas. Our scope of work included research of the entitlements for this site; preparation of a grading plan, parking and striping plan, water and wastewater utility plan; design of the drainage system and a detention pond, and preparation and processing of the construction applications through the City of Kyle. We also prepared a Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan in accordance with TCEQ requirements.  

Houston Bike Plan

Huitt-Zollars was part of a team that created Houston's first city-wide bicycle plan since 1993. The plan included recommendations for a city-wide bicycle network, an implementation strategy, a toolbox of bike facilities, and specific pilot projects to transition Houston into a more bicycle-friendly city.

Main Street Improvements

Houston’s Main Street was rebuilt in 2003 as part of the contraction of the city’s first light rail line. It has become a focus for the redevelopment of Downtown Houston, with two new offices towers completed since light rail construction began and eight new residential, office, hospitality, and public projects currently under construction or in development.

Davis High School

The Aldine ISD high school is a 407,000 square-foot, two-story complex consisting of classrooms, practice and competition gymnasiums, auditorium, auto shop, pre-vet classroom, woodshop, practice and competition baseball and softball fields, practice football field, tennis courts, practice soccer field, band room, natatorium, Junior ROTC shooting range, science labs, pre-nursing clinic, cosmetology lab, nurses station, and administrative offices.

Flood Control District Administration Building

Huitt-Zollars provided professional architectural and engineering services to perform a comprehensive facility condition assessment of the 3-story Harris County Flood Control District’s Administration Building in Houston, Texas. The building is approximately 52,000 GSF. The Project included the architectural and engineering assessment including the following elements: architectural building envelope, roof, and finishes; code and ADA issues; structural assessment and 3D model; parking and site assessment; and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing equipment and systems.

Family Law Building

Huitt-Zollars provided professional architectural and engineering services to perform a comprehensive facility condition assessment of the Harris County's Family Law Building in downtown Houston, Texas. The building is seven stories and approximately 110,00 GSF. The assessment included the following elements: architectural building envelope, roof, and finishes; structural assessment; code and ADA issues; and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing equipment and systems.

City of Huntsville

Houston METRO Light Rail Transit Stations

Huitt-Zollars was selected as the prime design firm to provide final civil, structural, and architectural design and post-design construction services as part of a design-build team for the downtown segment of the Light Rail Transit (LRT) project. The project includes six separate LRT station platforms. Huitt-Zollars' responsibilities included design supervision to complete the design of rail, roadway reconstruction, storm drain modeling and design, sidewalks, illumination, walls, drainage impact studies, design of one new bridge, design of three additional bridge reconstructions, and permi

Austin Diagnostic Clinic

Huitt-Zollars provided site development, grading, utility infrastructure, storm drainage, and storm detention services. The City of Austin, Water and Wastewater Division approved utility improvements. Based on a change in use and configuration of the previously platted lots, the project included vacating several utility easements, relocating water and wastewater, fire and domestic services to the property. Utilities were constructed after street cut permits were issued, and all applicable easements and permits were in place.
