Leeland Avenue: Water Quality Laboratory

Huitt-Zollars was selected by the City of Houston to provide the City’s Drinking Water Operations with multiple building improvements at various facilities. This included a facilities needs assessment, space planning, programming, design, and managing the flow of work during the complete project, i.e., from conception to completion, for the City of Houston’s Drinking Water Operations.

Ardmore Drinking Water Operations Facility

The City of Houston contracted with Huitt-Zollars, Inc. to conduct assessments of their facilities. One major component of these assessments was the City’s existing Drinking Water Operations facility at 7000 Ardmore. The original task, following the assessments, was to develop a master plan for the administrative offices and scattered maintenance shops on the existing site. Huitt-Zollars determined that the existing buildings would have to undergo extensive renovations in order to meet the new building codes, user needs, and future growth of the facility.

Lakeway Senior Living

Belmont Village Senior Living is a two-to-four-story 135,000-square-foot building. The 161-unit development includes housing for seniors with a wide range of physical and cognitive abilities. Amenity spaces and a rich assortment of local artwork are distributed on every level of the building, along with access to outdoor space. The Independent Living (IL) units front a resort-style pool deck and social gathering space with cabanas, an outdoor kitchen, and a chipping green. Other IL units face a preserved Hill Country landscape.

Sunfield

Sunfield is a 2,428-acre master planned community located in Buda, Texas, just south of Austin. The community currently features 15 parks, more than 12 miles of trail systems, and 2 amenity centers. Huitt-Zollars has provided a number of services for this community, including planning, trail design, monumentation, signage and landscape architectural design for main entrances, streetscape corridors, amenity centers, park design and covered mail stations — including hardscape, landscape, and irrigation design.

William M. McDonald YMCA

Huitt-Zollars provided full-service architectural, engineering, interior design, fire protection, and construction administration services for this six-acre, $12-million project located in Fort Worth, Texas. The new building is an approximately 35,000 square feet and includes a gymnasium, elevated indoor track, fitness center, licensed pre-school, childcare center, administration space, outdoor leisure and lap pool (designed by Counsilman-Hunsaker), and parking for 180 cars.

Grapevine Main

The Grapevine Main project is a P3 development project with the City of Grapevine that features offices, meeting, and gathering spaces integrated with a boutique hotel, parking garage, and the new TEXRail Main Street commuter rail station and reconstructed vintage railroad tracks and platform. The City owns and operates the depot portion of the building and leases portions of the garage for hotel and retail use. Huitt-Zollars, part of a  multi-disciplined design team led by Architexas, performed civil engineering and survey services.

The Grapevine Main project is a P3 development project with the City of Grapevine that will feature offices, meeting and gathering spaces, integrated with a boutique hotel, parking garage, and the new TEXRail Main Street commuter rail station and reconstructed vintage railroad tracks and platform. The City will own and operate the depot portion of the building and lease portions of the garage for hotel and retail uses.

Walsh Development

Walsh is a 7,200-acre, mixed-use master planned community that spans Tarrant and Parker counties within the city of Fort Worth, Texas. The first phase of the community, Quail Valley, is 1,700 acres and will consist of nearly 3,000 single-family residential lots, including a large amenity complex and three elementary schools. The development is expected to eventually be home to nearly 50,000 residents. As the Development Engineer, Huitt-Zollars was responsible for all aspects of engineering to make Quail Valley a reality.

8th Avenue Mixed-Use Development

Huitt-Zollars completed the 8th Avenue Mixed-Use Development in Fort Worth, Texas. Huitt-Zollars provided architectural, civil, landscape, mechanical, and electrical services to design the redevelopment of multiple contiguous sites as multi-use area. This mixed-use office and retail building provides a striking presence along 8th avenue, tying the medical district into the Magnolia Street area of the Near Southside.
