San Tan West Area Drainage Masterplan

The San Tan West ADMP covers a watershed area in excess of 45.8 square miles. The watershed's character varied between the undeveloped steep mountainous areas in the upper reaches and sparsely and densely developed areas within the lower regions. This ADMP included a complex FLO-2D model creation in areas where man-made disturbances have introduced channel systems, drainage structures, and retention systems. The large area included multiple municipalities where stakeholder and public involvement were critical for the project's success.

Bell94 Sports Complex

Planning, design, and construction administration services were provided for a six-field sports complex at 94th St. and Bell Rd. The complex includes 6 lighted professional quality sand-based fields; 600 space parking lot; restroom, office, and maintenance building facilities, shaded plaza, multi-use path, walkways, box culvert wash crossings, roadway extension, new turn lanes, and landscaping. Landscaping included over 200 salvaged trees and cacti.

Gila Bend Auxiliary Field Runway

The Gila Bend Auxiliary Airfield is located near the Goldwater Bombing Range south of Gila Bend Arizona, and is an auxiliary field for military aircraft that may be experiencing an emergency. Huitt-Zollars was part of a Design/Build team, and designed the new runway. The project scope included constructing a new 1,000-foot-long concrete touchdown areas at each end of the existing 8,500-foot runway, mill and overlay the remaining asphalt pavement and construct asphalt shoulders along the new runway pavement.

Goodwin Street Improvement

The Goodwin Street Improvement Project extends approximately 3,800 linear feet through the heart of downtown Prescott. The purpose was to reduce the flood potential along historic Whiskey Row, replace aged sewer and water lines, improve parking, increase pedestrian safety, and enhance sidewalks and crosswalks. The streetscape will also be enhanced.

Prescott Pavement Rehabilitation

Through the City of Prescott’s On-Call, Hoskin Ryan provided plan preparation services for pavement rehabilitation to 25 roadways throughout the City of Prescott. 17,737-linear-feet of various pavement management strategies were completed. The roadways received surface treatments such as mill and overlay, removal and reconstruction, crack seal, micro seal, chip seal, slurry, and pavement rejuvenator applications.

Hangar 109 Repair

Huitt-Zollars provided architectural, civil, structural, and MEP design services for the renovation of an existing active squadron hangar at MCAS, to transition it to a facility for temporary housing for visiting squadrons, and as temporary quarters for local units while their hangars are being renovated. The project consists of design of repairs to electrical and HVAC system components, the modification of fire sprinkler system to new spaces, and reconstruction of toilet rooms.

40th Street/Pecos Road Park and Ride

Huitt-Zollars provided professional design services to construct a $2.5 million end-of-line park and ride facility on the northwest corner of 40th Street and Pecos Road. The work included project design, construction documents, permitting, and estimates of probable construction cost for civil, drainage, landscape, utility, and transit center improvements. The facility will encompass approximately 15 acres, with initial design for 500 parking spaces, and rough grading and utilities for a total of 1,000 spaces.

Bell Road Paving

Huitt-Zollars initiated a field survey to update survey information developed by others and to generate required mapping for design of this two-mile section of Bell Road from 45th Street to 64th Street. The project scope included widening the roadway from four lanes to six lanes with curb, gutter, and sidewalk. Upgrades included field survey; drainage design and drainage structure design for 18-inch to 54-inch storm drain lines; landscaping and design of a raised, landscaped median and bus bays; relocation of a water main; and intersection plans with associated traffic signals.

US 191, Segment IV

US 191, between I-10 and Safford, is a typical two-lane rural arterial. Huitt-Zollars was retained to develop construction documents for Segments III and IV for a total of six miles. The existing roadway winds through rolling terrain with very little opportunities for passing slower trucks and RVs. Huitt-Zollars designed horizontal and vertical alignments, drainage structures, erosion control plans, cut and fill plans, and mass haul diagrams.
