Danny Applegate, PE, is Senior Vice President and Public Works Practice Area Leader at Huitt-Zollars. He leads the firm’s Public Works business sector, enhancing capabilities in water, wastewater, and municipal infrastructure and facilities across the company.
With more than 25 years of experience, Danny brings deep expertise in the design and delivery of large-diameter transmission mains and complex collection systems. His portfolio includes major projects such as the Willamette Water Supply System PLM 1.0, a 66-inch pipeline for Tualatin Valley Water District; the Tolt Pipeline No. 1 rehabilitation for Seattle Public Utilities; water and sewer relocations for Austin’s I-35 Capitol Expressway; and site civil advisory support for the Carlsbad Desalination Plant. He has also assisted cities including Corpus Christi, Dallas, Little Rock, and Fort Worth, as well as LADWP and the Municipal Water District of Southern California, with strategic planning and condition assessments.
Danny is a licensed Professional Engineer in multiple states and a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers. He serves on the ASCE and UESI technical committee for Pipe Bedding, Backfill, and Trench Shoring Systems and has co-authored papers presented at local and national conferences. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Engineering from Texas A&M University.
