Donald J. Young, PE, is a Vice President and Principal at Huitt-Zollars with four decades of experience leading federal architecture and engineering initiatives. A licensed mechanical engineer, Don brings a strategic, client-focused approach to business development, program leadership, and project execution across a wide range of federal agencies and delivery models.

Don leads Huitt-Zollars’ efforts in the federal market sector, where he has successfully developed and expanded programs through targeted opportunity identification, strategic teaming, and disciplined project delivery. His expertise spans both A/E design and design-build contracts, with a strong track record of securing and executing work with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Department of Homeland Security, Department of the Interior and other federal government departments and agencies.

Throughout his career, Don has built and managed high-performing teams, developed standards for proposal development and project execution, and mentored emerging federal project managers. His portfolio includes complex, multidisciplinary projects such as aviation hangars, federal courthouses, military housing, and secure operations centers across the U.S.

A recognized leader in the federal A/E space, Don is known for aligning technical excellence with mission-driven outcomes. He is actively involved with the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME). His deep industry knowledge and client-first mindset continue to fuel growth and innovation in Huitt-Zollars’ federal practice.
