Mike Brown, PE, is a civil engineer with over 38 years of experience in transportation infrastructure and structural engineering. As Vice President and Principal at our Austin office, Mr. Brown manages roadway, bridge, and rail projects, focusing on innovation, safety, and long-term community impact.

His career includes work in both the public and private sectors, including a 12-year tenure with TxDOT, where he served as a construction inspector and design engineer. Throughout his professional journey, Mr. Brown has managed infrastructure projects across Texas, such as urban freeway interchanges, railroad grade separations, and multimodal corridors. His areas of expertise include geometric design, hydrology and hydraulics, bridge and retaining wall design, utility coordination, and stormwater management.

Mr. Brown’s leadership has contributed to projects such as the US 75/Plano Parkway Interchange, the I-69 corridor in Rosenberg, and the North Lamar Boulevard improvements in Austin. He was PM of the McKalla Station Double Track providing CapMetro with a second track in a very congested corridor in Austin, Texas. He has also provided engineering services for the Trinity Railway Express and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Known for delivering technically sound and cost-effective solutions within deadlines and complex stakeholder environments, Mr. Brown holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington and is a licensed Professional Engineer in Texas.

In addition to his professional responsibilities, Mike Brown received the Engineer of the Year award and served as president for the Mid-Cities Chapter of the Texas Society of Professional Engineers. His I35 BUS project in Roanoke, Texas received the ACEC Gold Award for innovative design.
