Huitt-Zollars is proud to announce the promotion of Sandy Veras, RA, RLA, LEED AP, to Vice President and Principal in our Downtown Houston, TX office.  

In this new Principal role, Sandy Veras will lead Huitt-Zollars’ Institutional Education team throughout the greater Houston market area, including the Central and Gulf Texas regions. Drawing on her extensive experience in architecture, landscape architecture, planning, and business strategy, Sandy will strengthen client and industry relationships, serve as Principal on complex institutional and educational projects, mentor multidisciplinary teams, and help drive the firm’s strategic growth and objectives across the region.

Sandy brings more than 20 years of experience delivering innovative planning and design solutions for education, healthcare, mixed-use, and commercial projects. She has successfully led multidisciplinary teams through all phases of project development, providing expertise in feasibility studies, site selection, master planning, design, stakeholder engagement, and overall project management. Known for her collaborative leadership style and ability to align technical solutions with client goals, Sandy excels at building consensus, fostering strong partnerships, and delivering thoughtful, value-driven outcomes.

Sandy earned a Bachelor of Architecture and Master of Landscape Architecture from The University of Texas School of Architecture and later completed a Master of Business Administration from Rice University. She is a Registered Architect (RA), Registered Landscape Architect (RLA), and LEED Accredited Professional. Sandy’s leadership, technical expertise, and commitment to developing strong teams and trusted client relationships will further strengthen Huitt-Zollars’ Institutional Education practice and support the firm’s continued success throughout Texas.
