Huitt-Zollars is pleased to announce that Danny Applegate, PE, has joined the firm as Senior Vice President and Public Works Practice Area Leader. In this role, he will lead the Public Works business sector, advancing our capabilities in water, wastewater, and municipal infrastructure and facilities.
With more than 25 years of experience, Danny brings extensive expertise in designing and delivering large-diameter transmission mains and complex collection systems. His notable projects include the Willamette Water Supply System PLM 1.0, a new 66-inch pipeline for Tualatin Valley Water District; the Tolt Pipeline No. 1 pipeline rehabilitation of a 66-inch water transmission main for Seattle Public Utilities; water and sewer relocations for Austin’s I-35 Capitol Expressway; and providing site civil technical advisory services for the Carlsbad Desalination Plant. Beyond project execution, Danny has supported strategic planning and condition assessments for cities such as Corpus Christi, Dallas, Little Rock, and Fort Worth, as well as for the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) and the Municipal Water District (MWD) of Southern California.
Danny is a licensed Professional Engineer in multiple states and a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers. He serves on the ASCE/UESI technical committee on Pipe Bedding, Backfill, and Trench Shoring Systems and has co-authored papers presented at local and national conferences. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Engineering from Texas A&M University.
