This project, delivered through a 50/50 joint venture, involved comprehensive architectural and engineering services for a complex Design-Bid-Build (DBB) expansion of a secure production facility. The scope included multiple strategic additions to enhance operational capacity, security, and efficiency for the Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP).
The expansion covered 263,194 square feet and included critical upgrades to the west, southwest, and south production areas. These enhancements supported future equipment installations, expanded the Central Utility Plant (CUP), introduced Enclosed Receiving Truck Cells, and added a new plating line and secure vault. The design also accommodated the new catalyst of notes, increased workspace for Single Note Inspection and reclamation, and improved areas for Work-In-Progress (WIP) storage.
Key infrastructure improvements included reinforced structural elements for weather and threat protection, increased incoming power supply for redundancy, and expanded administrative space to support the Currency Quality Assurance Program. The project also addressed aging equipment through phased replacement strategies, all while maintaining ongoing production.
