This CapMetro BRT Station project consists of the Design, Permits and Approvals required to advance the 30% drawings to signed & sealed plans, specifications and estimates for the Expo Center Corridor and the Pleasant Valley Corridor. The delivery of these construction documents was split into three packages including one early package to be procured with a Field Engineer delivery method within CapMetro’s IDIQ construction contract. Huitt-Zollars provided civil, electrical, and structural engineering services along the corridors. Additionally, Huitt-Zollars provided a supporting role in the FTA process to deliver a design consistent with FTA’s requirements and provide CapMetro with materials and design information.
The Expo Center BRT project consists of an approximately 12-mile BRT route along some of the highest ridership corridors in the CapMetro system. A total of 23 station pairs will be implemented throughout the corridor and seamlessly connect downtown Austin with northeast Austin. The Pleasant Valley BRT Project consists of an approximately 14-mile BRT route also along one of the highest ridership corridors and acts as a north-south spine east of I-35, extending transit coverage to the growing area of southeast Austin. A total of 19 station pairs will be implemented throughout the corridor, effectively improving the mobility of several communities in east/southeast Austin between Mueller and McKinney Falls.
